Tanner & Shade (Demon Elite #4)-Pre-order Today!
This is an M/M/M Contemporary Romance.
Finnigan O’Reilly is a magnet for all the wrong men and this time he has really screwed up when his attraction involves two men in a relationship…with each other.
Finn made a big mistake once and he’s still paying for it. Not only was the man already married to someone else, turns out, he’s also a psychopath who is still hunting him. He thinks he’s safe enough at the lakehouse mansion, though. After all, he does live with a group of assassins and each one would do just about anything to protect him, especially two very special men that Finn should not be looking at with dreamy eyes. When his past catches up with him in a local park, its Shade and Tanner to his rescue. He doesn’t intend to make the same mistake twice, but intentions go right out the window when it comes to these two Demon Elite members.
Ash smirked and shook his head. “So you’re just avoiding Tanner and Shade then.”
Finn blushed and didn’t say anything.
Ash chuckled. “Well, we know where you stand now, don’t we?”
“Don’t tell anyone, please. I don’t want the whole house to know I’m pining for them. It’s stupid anyway. It’s stupid, right? God, I really need to just stop thinking about it.”
Staying away from everyone in the house was driving him crazy, making him talkative. Being social was something he liked and always had.
“Give yourself a break, man. You’re under a lot of stress. Go for a walk on the beach or something.”
Getting out of the house for a while would probably do wonders. Only problem was he couldn’t risk Shade or Tanner crossing his path.
Ash held the door open for the kitchen and let him go through first. He looked up at Ash and smiled. “Thanks.”
An arm snaked around his waist and pulled him down. He landed across someone’s lap in a heap, yelping out in surprise. His hand came to his chest in an attempt at keeping his heart from beating right out of his body. It pounded so hard Finn might as well pack it a bag and wave goodbye to it.
He finally had enough sense to look at his attacker, which just so happened to be a grinning Shade. “Let me up, please. I’m hungry.”
“So you can eat and then go back to your room. I don’t think so. I gotcha now.”
“It’s against the law to hold me against my will.”
Shade chuckled. “You’re bluffing.” His hand rubbed up and down Finn’s back a couple times before he wrapped his fingers around the nape of his neck.
Shade grew serious a second later and watched him for so long, Finn had to look away or fall under his spell. “Are you feeling better?”
Finn shrugged. “Am I miraculously cured of my sadness? No. But if you know the anecdote please pass it along.”
“Don’t be like that, Finn. I care about you.”
“Please just let me up.”
“I have something for you first. Been wanting to give it to you for days now, but you won’t come out of your room. Tanner and I need to talk to you after I give it to you.”
“What is it?” There were a few things Finn wanted from Shade that he shouldn’t long for, but somehow he seriously doubted Shade was talking about that. “Where’s Tanner?” Really, the look in Shade’s eyes should be directed at him not Finn.
Shade moved around, trying to get something out of his pocket. It took some effort considering Finn’s ass was firmly planted on Shade’s lap, covering up his access to whatever he was digging for, but he managed after Finn moved his leg out of the away. Shade handed Finn a cell phone a second later.
“Both mine and Tanner’s numbers are programmed in it already. Along with Liam’s and Wolf’s.”
“This is too expensive. I can’t take it.”
“It’s for your protection. We’d feel better if you had it.”
“I’m not even allowed to leave the house without a bodyguard. I don’t need this.”
“It’s good to take precautions.”
“I’ll only use it for emergencies then. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome and you can use if for whatever you want. I’m a bit over-protective is all.”
“Yes. Of you.”
“Why would you care about me? I’m nobody to you.”
Instead of answering Shade pulled Finn forward until he was close enough to kiss. Finn didn’t kiss back but he wanted to. He whimpered when Shade did this thing with his lips that gently demanded the kiss deepen. It was sweet torture. The need he had for this man, that he could never really have, was palpable. He was doing the one thing he said he wouldn’t do, putting himself right in the middle of Tanner and Shade.
He shouldn’t be doing this.
It all sucked big major ass-balls. It was impossible to stay away from both men for very long. He saw that now. Shade was way too sexy when that small sparkle lit up his dark eyes. And that quiet strength Tanner had going for him had Finn wanting to cling to him and never let go.
He wouldn’t survive either of them with his heart intact unless he put some distance between them.
Finn jumped from Shade’s lap and practically ran out of the kitchen.
