#MySexySaturday - A Sexy Vampire

Image
If you've read the first Saint Lakes book, Leave It AllAll, you might think I have something against vampires. That is not the case and I prove it in Running Out of Moonlight (Saint Lakes #2). This story focuses on two shifters, however, there is a vampire that is a very strong secondary character and will be the Main Character in a future Saint Lakes book.

In Running Out of Moonlight Magnus is a hired gun, who is working for the bad guy to kill Saint Lakes Alpha. That is until he sees his mate, Ladon, which is the Alpha's brother. The only problem is Magnus' mate hasn't had his first shift yet which means Magnus can't mate with him. Ladon is 18 years old, which is consenting age for vampires and humans, but not for shifters. Again, both Magnus and his mate are strong secondary characters and their story is coming sometime next year.

The Snippet:

Magnus smiled at Ladon, but had a resignation in his eyes. Magnus brought a hand up, cupping Ladon’s cheek. “You’re so yo…

Love and danger aren’t supposed to go hand in hand.

Elijah wants to go back to his old life. He never realized just how well his mother kept the rest of his crazy family out of his life until she was gone. His extended family descended on him like the plague and now he’s in some deep trouble. Trouble he can’t get out of, no matter how hard he tries. Crash Morgan is the guy his boss sends when someone needs to get assassinated. Sometimes the best thing for society is to eliminate the worst that humanity has to offer and Crash is very good at doing that. When he’s sent to interrogate Elijah Spade, he’s a bit out of his element. Talking to the suspect isn’t exactly where he excels. What’s even worse is Crash feels protective of Elijah.

Crafty Tuesday-Why I'm choosing to opt-out of Kindle Unlimited

Image
I chose to put Leave it All (Saint Lakes #1) on Kindle Unlimited (KU), just to see if it would be worth it for me to do so for future books. So, essentially I experimented with it and I still am. To be able to compare I'm pulling out of KU and not putting my next book on there. Instead, I'm making all books available everywhere books are sold. I'll compare the dollar amount I get and go from there.

Leave it All is around the 60k mark and Amazon pays by the page. For each page that's read I get just below half a cent.  So my next book, Running Out of Moonlight (Saint Lakes #2)  is about the same length.

I bring up the word counts of my books because I honestly think that for larger books KU might be a good choice. At least if an author is looking for an immediate paycheck right now. So for works over the 100K word count KU might be something worth considering. But for my 60K books I think it may be worth it to experiment a bit further, because numbers don't lie. I…

The People of Saint Lakes

Image
Bennett and Lucas

Bennett Somerset came to Saint Lakes as a young child. His village had been attacked my wolf shifters and his parents were killed. His father's best friend, Garridan, took care of him after the attack, but he disappeared one day, never to be seen from again. His adoptive mother, Estelle, is a great parent to him and made sure he has a good life. Bennett has six brothers and sisters and counting. I say and counting because Mother Estelle takes in orphaned children of all species. She even takes in orphaned adults who need her help. So Bennett never knows when he'll gain a new brother or sister. Bennett is very content with his life when he meets his mate. He owns a boat repair business that he runs right out of his own garage.
Lucas Speck is a little down on his luck when his story starts. He's a musician who just never got the break he needed so he makes rent money working at an office supply store and trying to save up enough to get out of his parents'…

#MySexySaturday - My Sexy Shifter

Image
Recently, I just ventured into the Paranormal Romance world. I have to say that I found my home. So this snippet is from Leave It All (Saint Lakes #1). It's available on Amazon. Next month it will be available everywhere.

Blurb Lucas just wanted to be a normal human being, but normal is highly over-rated.
Lucas Speck had been just some guy who worked at an office supply store and house-sat for his snowbird parents. He was nobody special. Or that’s what he thought before the headaches start and weird things start to happen to him. When people start chasing him his whole life gets turned upside down.
Bennett Somerset is a dragon shifter, who likes his quiet life in his quiet town. He isn’t looking for complications. He already has a family that defines the words, weird and crazy, to perfection. Good thing they live in a small town where nothing ever happens. That is until he smells the most delicious thing in the world and realizes it’s his mate. His little witch of a mate just made …

The Cast of Characters
Initial reaction to the Challenge: When I was first given the cast of characters and the actual Challenge, which turned out to be the prologue, I thought that Jonah was a lush. I mean he's so drunk off his ass that he's stumbling around on a day that's pretty important to his sister. My initial thought was: Why can't he stay sober for her? What the hell's wrong with him?
Jonah: Weirdly enough, my thoughts on Jonah didn't immediately go to his relationship with Scott. Instead, I analyzed the drunk at a family function thing and came up with two conclusions.
One: He's a little self-centered and probably doesn't know how to communicate effectively. Two: Every member of his family was probably the same way.
Scott: So now I have this self-centered, uncommunicative person who's in this heart-wrenching situation with a boyfriend, Scott. Okay, Scott doesn't know what to think about Jonah honestly. All he knows is that he really car…

Running On Moonlight (Saint Lakes #2) Excerpt

Available February 10th!

They thought finding each other would heal them both, but life in Saint Lakes doesn’t make it that simple.
Sage Rickman changed the day vampire’s kidnapped him and decided to use him as their plaything. Now that he’s back in Saint Lakes he should feel safe, right? Hallucinations and the constant paranoia made daily life impossible at times. Peace of mind is an elusive creature. Finding out he has a mate that’s feral scares the crap out of him. His mate, Garridan, needs him to be normal, but he doesn’t even know what that looks like anymore.

“You came,” Sage said and looked astonished. Garridan made another purring sound. He would always come to his mate. Garridan wanted to lift the window up and pluck him from it, fly him off so that no one would ever be able to take Sage away from him again. But Garridan could see by the red rims around Sage’s eyes that wasn’t what he needed from Garridan. “Your dragon’s pretty. A dark red color,” Sage said. Pretty. Garridan made …

#MySexySaturday - Our Sexy Girl

Image
Okay, I write M/M Romance, in a variety of sub-genres, so obviously my main characters are never sexy girls. However, Kristin is a secondary character in a book that is coming out on February 10th called Running Out of Moonlight (Saint Lakes #2). The book is part of a paranormal series.

In this scene Kristin is teasing on of her brothers. I don't know about you, but I think humor is very sexy.

The BonyDee Writing Challenge

Bronwyn and I talk almost every day, despite the 14 hour time difference and the fact that were on the other side of the world from each other. Some of our conversations go like this:
Bronwyn: I have an idea for a book. Want to help me write it. Me: Of course. Bronwyn: LOL It’s about cheating. Me: Ugh (Here I’m thinking why did I just agree to right a cheating book) Bronwyn: You write the how they get back together and I’ll write how they don’t.
So we do and this is the conversation after the initial writing was finished.
Bronwyn: What’s a solstice? Me: It has something to do with the 4 seasons. Bronwyn: Yeah, we have a festival for winter solstice. That would be fun to write about. Me: Yeah, we both should and not tell each other what we’re writing about. We’ll keep it secret and see how different each story is at the end. Bronwyn: So I didn’t read your half of the story before I wrote my own. Me: Challenge!
I’m paraphrasing here, of course, mostly because I wanted to do you all a favour and have…

The Three Lakes of Saint Lakes

Image
There is a story about the three lakes that surround Saint Lakes that Mother Estelle told each one of her children when they became adults. The story is about how the lakes got their name. It goes like this:
There was a wolf shifter named Somerset. Somerset had a brother named Cable that was his exact opposite. Both brothers were very close as siblings should be and spent all their time together. (Mother Estelle might have had an agenda by telling this story to each one of her eight children. She might have told this story to them when they argued over something or other.) Cable was the first of the brothers to find his mate. The mate was a very pretty human by the name of North. North had a difficult time accepting Cable as his mate because he didn’t know about paranormals before meeting the wolf shifter. His feelings were quickly resolved though, and the two men were happy. Somerset wasn’t happy though. He also felt the mate pull towards North, but did nothing about it. Years went by …

Running Out of Moonlight (Saint Lakes #1)

Image
They thought finding each other would heal them both, but life in Saint Lakes doesn’t make it that simple.
Sage Rickman was in the wrong place at the wrong time. At least that’s what he think when the vampires kidnap him. Working through the mental anguish of all the vampires did to him is difficult to get through to say the very least. Peace of mind is an elusive creature though. He thought finding his mate would make things better, but trust doesn’t come easy.
Garridan Arach can’t remember anything about his past. He’s been in his dragon form far too long for a normal shifter to take. Being feral is the least of his worries though, especially when his memory starts coming back. Not that he cares about his past, until it has a way of catching up with him, and he discovers things that will make life in Saint Lakes less than peaceful.

Bronwyn's Interlude - MoonLit Escapades

Image
This week because April and I have both had books out that we’d start with a promo swop – that too and we haven’t quite talked about what we actually want to do with these weekly posts this year.
If you have a thought, comment and tell us, we’d love some input. Do you like the WIP snippets our would you like to see something different from us. Like a challenge, we both have to do or something.

Moonlit Escapade by Bronwyn Heeley (Moonlit Wolves 7.5) Published 15 December 2015 Paranormal Erotic Romance
There is never a time when a visit from old friends isn’t comforting.
Ever wonder how Jex and Matt ended up in that compromising position in book 4? Or what the fight between Phil and Craig was about? Or how about how they all became so close and ended up living together? Well, here’s your chance. All the missing pieces that were linked but not fully explained are bundled together in this heart-warming anthology, and just in time for Christmas, because who doesn’t like to visit from family at …

Crafty Tuesday - Author Branding

I recently had someone ask me about author branding yesterday, and how to gain a readership. Unfortunately, I have no easy answer for this. At least none that doesn't involve hard work and being kind to people.

Getting your name out there is often tedious work, that not many new authors really want to do. It's asking introverted people, who like to live in their own heads, to essentially put myself out on display regularly. Marketing your author brand is an essential part of the whole process and can be really fun if you look at it in a different way.

Creating a backlist
You're writing for a reason, right? You spend how many weeks (And for some of us months) creating something from nothing using words, because...you loved doing it. If this isn't your reason for writing than I suggest reconsidering the whole writing books thing. Writing is not an easy task and as I said a few sentences ago Marketing is in some ways, even harder, at least for some of us it is. So keep goi…

What's to Come for 2016

Image
I suppose I should start this post by saying Crash (Demon Elite #1) just came out yesterday, so Is started out the New Year with a book. I plan on leaving 2016 with one as well. You can get it at eXtasy Books exclusively until January 8th in which time it will become available on Amazon worldwide.

I plan on having five more Demon Elite books out this year. The next one will be available March 1st. The title is Wolf (Demon Elite #2) I'm sure you can figure out a theme as Crash is the name of the Main Character in book one. And Wolf is the main character of book two. Cosmo will be the main character in book three. One member of the team I'm really looking forward to writing is Germ. If you've read Crash then you probably understand why. He so funny. I can't wait.

So for Saint Lakes I plan on Six more books this year. Running Out of Moonlight (Saint Lakes #2) comes out February 10th. It will be exclusive to Amazon for a few months and then go on sale everywhere else. It&…
